100 Years of Cherry Trees - May 11, 2012

Commemorating the gift of 3,000 cherry trees from Japan to Washington DC by the Mayor of Tokyo in appreciation for the friendship shown during the negotiations to end the Russo-Japanese War, the government of Japan is presenting Portsmouth with cherry trees grafted from the DC originals.  The ceremony is planned on the birthday of Henry Denison.
